More Jets For Egypt

US gives 4 more F-16 fighter jets to Egyptian government despite outcry | Fox News

By Maxim Lott Published April 11, 2013 FoxNews.com

Four more F-16 fighter jets left the U.S. on Thursday headed for Egypt as part of a foreign aid package that has generated controversy given the political upheaval in the Mideast country.

Critics say the military aid should stop because the president Egyptians elected last year has led the Muslim Brotherhood, called President Obama liar and urged that hatred of Jews be instilled in children.

A source who works on the naval air base in Fort Worth, Texas, confirmed to FoxNews.com the departure of the state-of-the-art fighter planes. The new shipment brings the total number of F-16 jets given to Egypt this year to 12.

Eight more F-16s will be given to the Egyptian government before the end of the year as part of a billion-dollar foreign aid deal signed in 2010 with then-Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, a longtime U.S. ally. The U.S. also will send 200 Abrams tanks.

Critics, including several in Congress, say it doesn't make sense to follow through with the package. While current Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi has toned down his rhetoric since his election last summer, in 2010 Morsi attacked Obama for supporting Israel.

“One American president after another —and most recently, that Obama — talks about American guarantees for the safety of the Zionists in Palestine," Morsi, then a leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, said on Egyptian TV in reaction to Obama's 2009 speech in Cairo. "[Obama] was very clear when he uttered his empty words on the land of Egypt. He uttered many lies.”

In the comments translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Morsi also urged that children be taught to hate Jews.

“Dear brothers, we must not forget to nurse our children and grandchildren on hatred towards those Zionists and Jews, and all those who support them," he said in 2010. "They must be nursed on hatred. The hatred must continue.”

Some in Congress worry that the F-16 gift betrays America’s friendship with Israel.

“Friends don't send U.S. taxpayer- funded F-16s and tanks to the enemies of their friends,” Rep. Gohmert, R-Texas, told FoxNews.com.

The State Department declined to comment on the specific movement of any military equipment, but officials released a statement to FoxNews.com defending the United States' "strategic" ties to Egypt, "with whom we have a long history of close political-military relations that have benefited key U.S. interests."

The statement also noted that U.S. military cooperation supports the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.

"The Egyptian military has long had cordial ties with Israel and is a pillar of support for the peace treaty within the Egyptian Government," the statement said. “We are committed to maintaining Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge in the region. These F-16s represent no threat to Israel because Israel has more advanced aircraft and weapons than the F-16."

But some security experts say that aid to Egypt will simply prop up a bad regime.

"U.S. aid packages limit, rather than leverage, Washington’s ability to extract meaningful concessions from Cairo on democratic reform. Sending arms conveys a tacit indifference to Morsi’s authoritarian tendencies, including its harassment and intimidation of regime critics," said Malou Innocent, a foreign policy analyst at the Cato Institute.

She added that America also can’t afford the spending.

"American taxpayers have been Egypt’s major arms supplier, subsidizing the supply of F-16 jet fighters, M1A1 Abrams battle tanks, armored personnel carriers, Apache helicopters, and hundreds of millions of dollars in surplus military equipment."

In addition, the U.S. government also paid at least $83 million to upgrade facilities and provide training at the Egyptian military's "Cairo West Air Base" to accommodate the new F-16s.

Some security experts say the spending is worth it.

“I think this is the only way to ensure the stability of the Camp David Accords (the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel.) Is that worth it? Yes,” Anthony Cordesman, who has served as a consultant for the State and Defense departments and who holds the Burke Chair in Strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, told FoxNews.com.

The planes themselves, he said, are less important than the message they send.

“Canceling a few F-16s isn't going to be a game changer in itself, but it’d change perceptions in the Arab world. They would see how quickly the U.S. could turn away when there’s a crisis," Cordesman said.

The statement from State Department officials also warned that revoking the aid could have disastrous consequences.

"Delaying or canceling deliveries of the F-16 aircraft would undermine our efforts to address our regional security interests through a more capable Egyptian military and send a damaging and lasting signal to Egypt's civilian and military leadership as we work toward a democratic transition in this key Middle Eastern state," the statement said.

Modern Democrats Are Not For Democracy

I recently watched an MSNBC Promo about education in America. It bluntly states that our children do not belong to us, they belong to the "community". Now let's think about someone else who spewed out the same kind of communist propaganda. Anybody have a guess? Adolf Hitler. And still to this day it is illegal for parents to homeschool their own children in Germany.

The reason for this propaganda is that they want to teach our kids to be just like them. They want a communist society. They hate capitalism, the very thing that has made America so great. Modern Democrats have bought into the communist mindset, a plague.

This disease will continue to spread as long as it remains in our government. They persuade the people by their promises of more taxpayer handouts, taking advantage of our self-comfort and complacency. The current administration is the worst in the history of this country. Our government must be cleansed of these mordern democrats and this virus before our great nation is no more.

The best thing we can do now is spread the truth. Call our congress regularly and demand action against democrat attacks on our freedom. If things don't reverse directions, we may be faced with a new American revolution. I hope and pray that it doesn't happen. So do whatever you can to help prevent communism and/or revolution.

CowboyByte.comU.S. Ready to Spend Up to $300,000 for ‘Workforce Development’--In Serbia ? » CowboyByte

The U.S. State Department, through the Agency for International Development (USAID), has announced that it will award up to $300,000 for “workforce development” in Serbia.

The Republic of Serbia is in southeastern Europe, north of Greece and surrounded by Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Croatia and Macedonia. It has a population of 7.26 million.

“Currently, there is a mismatch between private sector needs and the capacity of the existing workforce, which continues to contribute to the high unemployment rate, especially among youth,” said USAID in a March 29 announcement.

“Therefore, USAID/Serbia has identified workforce development as a means to address the broader problem of unemployment,” reads the announcement.

Tax hike

Minute Men NewsWhite House Confirms: Obama Budget Contains Middle Class Tax Hike » Minute Men News

The White House has confirmed that President Obama’s forthcoming budget contains an income tax increase on middle class Americans.

During a Friday, April 5 White House press briefing, spokesman Jay Carney replied “I’m not disputing that” when asked if a particular Obama budget proposal would raise income taxes on the middle class.

The proposal in question is known as “Chained CPI.” The term is a Beltway euphemism for measuring inflation at a different, slower pace. Many tax and budget items are indexed to inflation, so slowing inflation’s measured rate of growth has both spending cut and tax increase implications.

On the tax side, all income tax brackets are subject to inflation. Slowing down the inflation rate slows down the annual rate of growth in all income tax brackets.

This means the Obama budget contains a tax increase on 100 percent of middle class taxpayers—anyone who pays the federal income tax.

Party at the WH!

Minute Men NewsOh Yeah, Party at the White House Tonight! » Minute Men News

Tonight’s special White House “celebration” of Memphis soul music marks the tenth time President and Mrs. Obama have been treated to an exclusive East Room “command performance” of American music featuring major stars, past and present.

While the performances are televised and celebrate the nation’s culture, some may wonder whether during an era of soaring deficits it is wise to stage what are also in effect private parties for the first couple.

And with this evening’s event, the performances are officially part of the “sequester-free zone” at the White House. As is well known, the daily White House tours did not make the cut.

The Obamas suspended the performances during the campaign season, either because they were too busy or because they thought average voters might not be pleased by the sight of them partying it up as unemployment continues to rage. The last “In Performance at the White House” was a May 8, 2012 event celebrating of the music of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The show included performance by Sheryl Crow, Mike Myers and Stevie Wonder.

Biden mocks gun skeptics: ‘We’re going to swoop down with Special Forces folks and gather up every gun in America’ | Mobile Washington Examiner

During a gun control speech Tuesday at the White House, Vice President Biden mocked the “black helicopter crowd” for opposing the idea of universal background checks for Americans purchasing guns. “Kinda scary man, the black helicopter crowd is really upset,” Biden said, criticizing the National Rifle Association for promoting a “misinformation campaign” on background checks.

Biden insisted that there would be no central registry for background checks allowing government to keep records on gun owners.

“No way that Uncle Sam can go find out whether you own a gun because we’re about to really take away all your rights and you’re not going to be able to defend yourself and we’re going to swoop down with Special Forces folks and gather up every gun in America,” Biden added mockingly. “It’s bizarre. But that’s what’s being sold out there.”

Greenhouse gas rules

CowboyByte.comGreenhouse gas rules will be enacted soon, says Obama aide » CowboyByte

The White House will enact greenhouse gas emission rules for power plants in the “not-too-distant future,” Heather Zichal, President Obama’s top climate adviser, said Monday.

The proposed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards for coal-fired power plants are “pretty historic” and “very much in line with the president’s broader climate objectives,” Zichal said at a Washington, D.C.-area conference hosted by Transportation Energy Partners.

Zichal made the comments after a recent Washington Post report suggested the administration might postpone and tweak the emissions rules, which were proposed about one year ago over strong opposition from industry groups and congressional Republicans.

FBI Investigating: Wiretap of GOP?

Illegal Wiretap of GOP? FBI to Investigate - Patriot UpdatePatriot Update
The top Republican in the Senate, Mitch McConnell, is asking the feds to investigate whether a closed campaign meeting was illegally wiretapped by his political opponents. The issue arises after the liberal outlet Mother Jones published “A recording of a private meeting between the Senate GOP leader and campaign aides.”

In a statement to the press, McConnell’s campaign manager, Jesse Benton, says the feds are getting involved. “Senator McConnell’s campaign is working with the FBI and has notified the local U.S. Attorney in Louisville, per FBI request, about these recordings,” says Benton. “Obviously a recording device of some kind was placed in Senator McConnell’s campaign office without consent. By whom and how that was accomplished will presumably be the subject of a criminal investigation.”

The federal wiretapping law thought to have been violated reads, “It shall not be unlawful under this chapter for a person acting under color of law to intercept a wire, oral, or electronic communication, where such person is a party to the communication or one of the parties to the communication has given prior consent to such interception.”

A Real President

I long for the day when we have a real president in office. One who cares about the people and not about an agenda. One who actually believes in the basic principals of our founding. One who doesn't bypass congress on a regular basis. One who holds up our freedoms and doesn't try to take them away. One who upholds the Constitution and doesn't go against it. In simple words, a true American.

Army Reserve

Army Reserve training material: Evangelicals, Catholics are extremist groups « Hot Air

This one earns the coveted Duke University triple facepalm, the highest honor we can award for self-beclowning. An Army Reserve training class attempted to instruct soldiers on the various extremist groups of the world, dutifully noting al-”Quaeda,” with which the US armed forces are at war, and Hamas, which the State Department lists as a terrorist organization. Both of those, however, come below a couple of extremist groups so fringe that only about 60 million Americans count themselves among their ranks:

A later statement from the Pentagon said that the author of this slide presented this viewpoint without permission, and that the research left much to be desired:

“Not a subject matter expert”? No kidding, but that doesn’t explain everything. Why was he or she assigned to train reserves on extremism in the first place? Shouldn’t the lack of expertise prompted the Army Reserves to exercise more supervision over its instructor? Few organizations are as relentlessly hierarchical as the military, and someone in the chain of command appears to have acted … irresponsibly.

Or, as Mark Steyn points out, several someones:

One does have to be amused, however, at the last entry on the list —“Islamophobia”. That follows a half-dozen references to various Islamist groups, including one that the Obama administration is currently attempting to engage (the Muslim Brotherhood), and “Sunni Muslims” —without any other qualifiers. I imagine the Shi’ites appreciate that conclusion, but since there are over 1.6 billion Muslims around the world and Sunnis comprise 75%-90% of them (according to Pew), isn’t that inclusion “Islamophobia” in and of itself?

“Totally dumb” is letting everyone connected to this training seminar off too easily.

PETA drones

PETA Plans to Fly Drones That Would 'Stalk Hunters' - US News & World Report

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is actively shopping for a drone that would "stalk hunters," the organization said Monday.

[READ: Drones to Monitor Endangered Animals in Africa]

The group says it will "soon have some impressive new weapons at its disposal to combat those who gun down deer and doves" and that it is "shopping for one or more drone aircraft with which to monitor those who are out in the woods with death on their minds."

The group says it will not weaponize the drones, but will use them to film potentially illegal hunting activity and turn it over to law enforcement.
